Hibernian v Montrose - KO 15:00 | Betfred Cup Matchday 1
Premiership Hibernian entertain League Two side Montrose on Matchday One of the Betfred Cup on Saturday, and we're expecting to see a repeat of when the sides last met - in the early rounds of this competition two seasons ago (3-0).
Hibs won the Championship comfortably last season and have earned top division status for the first time since relegation in 2014. They conceded the fewest home goals of any Championship side last season and not a single side in the second tier managed to lose fewer home matches (1). Six of their nine home wins all season were to nil.
Montrose finished bottom of their group in last year's competition having failed to score in three of their four matches against Cove Rangers, Ross County and Alloa, and just two sides managed fewer away goals than the Gable Endies in the Scottish fourth tier last season.
Three of the last four meetings between the sides have ended in Hibernian wins to nil, we're expecting more of the same on Saturday.
Dundee Utd v Raith Rovers - KO 15:00 | Betfred Cup Matchday 1
This was a Scottish Championship meeting last season, but these two can only face each other in cup competitions this season following Raith's relegation to League One.
Dundee Utd finished third behind Hibernian and Falkirk last season but were beaten by Premiership strugglers Hamilton in the Play-Off round. Tannadice Park was the toughest ground to visit in the Championship last season - Dundee won 11, drew six and lost just one of their 18 home matches.
Raith Rovers finished ninth and lost on penalties in the relegation play-off round against League One side Brechin. They ended the season as the weakest away side in the Championship having won just two on the road all season - they earned just 10 away points from a possible 54. One of those away points did come at Tannadice Park in August (2-2), but we're expecting to see a similar scoreline as when they made their most recent visit, 3-0 in February.
Inverness v Brechin - KO 15:00 | Betfred Cup Matchday 1
Despite the fact their season ended in relegation from the Premiership, Inverness finished the 2016/17 campaign in decent form having won three of their final four matches against Hamilton, Dundee and Motherwell. They get back to competitive action on Saturday with a Betfred Cup tie against Brechin.
Thistle have lost just two of their nine matches at the Caledonian Stadium in 2017, against Champions Celtic and a St Johnstone side who ended the season in fantastic form. In Contrast, Brechin really struggled away from home for the majority of the 2016/17 League One season - losing nine and winning just two of their 14 away matches since early November.
Brechin have lost their last four in Inverness and lost both their League Cup away ties last season.
